It is collection of mature trees, temperate exotics and a large conservatory. It is definitely worth a visit. Take the little train tour which allow stops, and you will still have time for rel more…

A visit to the Saguaro National Park was high on my list, and it was well worth the visit. Though not as instantly attractive as Phoenix, it should be on any one's drive through Ari more…

Great to hear about people loving the pereskias. It usually flowers in the first season (one year). Make sure you feed it with NPG 15.15.30 or 15.30.30 With the tropical weather you cannot fail. Remember these plants belong to the tropics. I manage to grow mine under difficult circumstances , and they still bear flowers. Hopefully, yours will more…

I have to be careful not to criticise the botanists too severely, as one of my younger brothers is in charge of the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh. But I wish they would leave cacti named the same way for a while... more…

You are so right. Parodia is the latest creation by those who now organise these new labels. The genus is made up of Eriocactus, Malacocarpus and Notocactus. They do produce lovely flowers. more…
